Net Zero Carbon

The MECC Trust Carbon Zero Project supports communities in reducing their carbon footprint through practical advice, energy-saving initiatives, and sustainable living guidance.

We empower residents to make eco-friendly choices that benefit both the environment and their household budgets, creating greener homes and healthier communities.

MECC Trust Carbon Zero Commitment

At MECC Trust, we are committed to supporting communities on the journey to Net Zero Carbon, balancing greenhouse gas emissions with removal from the atmosphere.

This is essential for tackling climate change, protecting nature, and improving health and wellbeing.

Our approach is simple: small actions today create big change tomorrow.

We recognise that the climate crisis is both an environmental and public health concern, and we are committed to building a sustainable, low-carbon future.

Our journey to Carbon Zero is already in action. As a leading retrofit organisation, we provide a practical guide to help reduce carbon footprints through simple changes at home.

At MECC, we believe change starts at the community level, supporting neighbourhoods towards a greener and healthier future.

We inform, engage, and educate people to take steps—from reducing energy use to generating clean energy. Every action counts.

From greener spaces to reducing waste, we support projects that make a real difference every day.

Climate change is global, but solutions begin locally, helping shape a more sustainable future.

Community Initiative

Supporting Energy Efficiency
in the Community

Through our ongoing partnership with NEA's Warm Homes programme, we provide compassionate, expert energy advice to individuals and families living in cold and inefficient homes.

By helping people reduce their energy use, access grants for insulation and home upgrades, and understand sustainable energy choices, we are directly cutting carbon emissions while improving lives.

This work has a dual impact: tackling fuel poverty and reducing the environmental footprint of local homes.

Events & Responsibility

Hosting Low-Waste,
Eco-Conscious Events

At our events and activities, we focus on reducing waste and promoting environmental responsibility.

  • Minimising single-use plastics
  • Using recyclable or compostable materials
  • Offering sustainable catering options
  • Encouraging reusable bottles, cups, and bags
Our goal is to lead by example — showing that community events can be vibrant, welcoming, and environmentally responsible at the same time.

Green Mobility

Encouraging
Sustainable Travel

We encourage our team, volunteers, and visitors to use public transport, walk, or carpool wherever possible. Although we do not operate our own vehicle fleet, we are mindful of the transport choices we support.

We aim to keep travel emissions low by using local venues and ensuring our events are accessible to the communities we serve.
