Communitus Autism & Learning Disability Project

Supporting Individuals and Families Before Crisis

At MECC Trust, we believe everyone deserves the right support at the right time. Through our Communitus Autism & Learning Disability Project, we provide early intervention and community-based support for autistic people, individuals with learning disabilities, and their families.

Our aim is to help people access support before difficulties become overwhelming, reducing stress, improving wellbeing, and helping families feel more confident in managing everyday challenges.

How We Can Help

Personalised support, based on individual needs

Every person is different, which is why our support is tailored to each individual and family.

  • Helping people understand what services are available
  • Supporting referrals to Autism and Learning Disability services
  • Helping people access NHS, social care, education, and community services
  • Supporting attendance at appointments where appropriate
  • Providing advocacy and helping families communicate with professionals
  • Helping families recognise early warning signs of increasing stress
  • Providing practical advice and culturally appropriate support
  • Signposting to specialist organisations and local support groups
Our Approach

Early support can prevent small problems becoming crises

Rather than waiting until someone reaches breaking point, we work alongside individuals and families to:

01
Understand & Identify

Understand the current situation and identify challenges and risks early.

02
Explore Support

Explore what support is already available and fill gaps where possible.

03
Connect & Build

Connect people with the right organisations and build confidence and independence.

04
Reduce Stress

Reduce stress for individuals and carers, and support them within their community.

Working Together

In partnership with a wide range of organisations

Working together helps ensure people receive the right support at the right time.
