What is an Energy Service Café?

Our Energy Café is a free, friendly drop-in service provided by MECC Trust for people across Birmingham. It offers one-to-one advice on energy use, support with managing bills, and guidance on accessing grants that can help reduce household costs.

We regularly host sessions at our main centre and community venues, creating a welcoming space where visitors can enjoy a hot drink and speak with someone ready to listen and help. Our qualified Energy Advisors provide practical support to help you use less energy, keep your home warm for less, and access schemes that can lower your bills.

These sessions are especially valuable for individuals and families facing rising energy costs, helping to tackle fuel poverty and improve overall wellbeing. The café provides a non-judgmental, accessible environment for those who may prefer face-to-face support.

Pop in for a chat — you might be surprised how much you can save.

If you would like us to run a session in your community space, please get in touch at info@mecctrust.com.

Why is an Energy Service Café important?

MECC Trust’s Energy Cafés are important because they help tackle fuel poverty and support vulnerable households struggling with rising energy costs. By offering free, in-person advice, they empower residents to better understand their energy usage, access financial support, and make their homes more energy-efficient.

These cafés create a friendly and non-judgmental space where people can receive practical help—especially those who may not have internet access or the confidence to seek support online. Ultimately, they promote financial resilience, warmer homes, and improved wellbeing for local communities.
