Fahreen story at Mecc Trust

"I started work at Mecc as a volunteer in 2016. I had recently moved to Birmingham and was struggling with finding employment. A family friend suggested I volunteer at MECC Trust, a charity that helps the local community.
I started by helping people with their job search—writing CVs, filling out applications, and preparing for interviews. As I gained experience and stayed committed, I was offered a paid position. I now work as a Community Advisor and Energy Advisor. In these roles, I give advice and support on things like benefits, housing problems, and understanding bills. I also help people manage their energy use, save money and reduce energy emissions.
I enjoy helping and supporting people, especially during tough times. Making a positive impact in their lives."

Haider's story at Mecc Trust

"During my time at Mecc Trust, it has been a very huge learning curve. Having never been exposed to the charity sector.
Early during the time I was volunteering I did feel a bit overwhelmed with the customer service sides of things as I had no previous experience within the field prior, this included having to talk to clients in Urdu, punjabi and mipuri but also having to deal with clients who spoke only broken english however over time my confidence with talking to clients has drastically improved. Overall my experience has been very progressive. i have gain a lot of knowledge and i am really enjoying my experience here"
