What is a ' Energy Service Cafe'?

MECC Trust’s Energy Café is a free drop-in service offered in Birmingham where residents can receive one-to-one advice on energy use, bill management, and accessing grants to reduce household costs . Held at locations like MECC Trust on Court Road, Hutton Hall, and the Khidmat Centre, these sessions include hot drinks and a welcoming atmosphere to make the advice accessible  meeting with a trained advisor can help you reduce energy usage, improve heating efficiency, and find support schemes that could lower your bills and combat fuel poverty

Why is a ' Energy Service Cafe' important?

MECC Trust’s Energy Cafés are important because they help tackle fuel poverty and support vulnerable households struggling with rising energy costs. By offering free, in-person advice, they empower residents to better understand their energy usage, access financial support, and make their homes more efficient. These cafés create a friendly, non-judgmental space where people can get practical help—especially those who might not have internet access or confidence to seek support online. Ultimately, they promote financial resilience, warmer homes, and better wellbeing for local communities.

Where do ' Energy Service Cafe' be hosted?

MECC Trust’s Energy Advice Cafés are hosted at three community locations across Birmingham:

  • Court Road, Balsall Heath (MECC Trust HQ, B12 9LQ): Held on the 1st and Thursdays, from 10:00 pm to 12:00 pm 

  • Hutton Hall, B8 1NT: Open 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, 10:30 am to 11:30 am

  • Khidmat Centre, B10 9TA: Available on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm 

These drop-in sessions offer residents a warm, welcoming space for free advice on energy bills, saving money, and accessing relevant support schemes.
